Overview
The Darlington Point Solar Farm is a 333MW DC single-axis tracking project located south of the town of Darlington Point. The project has an approximate capital cost of $450m and is jointly owned by Octopus Investments and Edify Energy.
As part of the solar farm development, two 42MVA synchronous condensers were installed on the 220kV transmission network at Buronga Substation.
Challenge
Edify Energy engaged Middleton Group to provide technical and project support for the installation of two 42MVA synchronous condensers into the NSW transmission network.
Solution
Middleton Group was seconded into Edify Energy to manage and interface with various project stakeholders, including manufacturers, construction teams, project sponsors, the transmission network owner, and the design team.
Results
Edify Energy had full confidence in Middleton Group personnel acting in the best interests of Edify Energy and the project, with strong working relationships established between all parties.
Project interfaces and interdependencies between all parties were effectively managed in a timely manner, which helped Edify Energy successfully construct and commission the project in time for the energisation of the solar farm.
