Overview

Middleton Group was asked to provide a comparison between connection options – a 220 kV transmission connection or a 66 kV sub-transmission connection – to identify optimal connection methodology.

Challenge

The project required Middleton Group to conduct a thorough assessment of 220 kV and 66 kV connection options for two large-scale wind farms located in Victoria.

Solution

Throughout the project, Middleton Group supported Solis RE and performed detailed optioneering to determine the lowest-cost grid connection options as well as contributing towards the risk management process for the identified options.

Results

The client was provided with an optimised business case, which delivered clear and concise advice for them to present to the relevant authorities. Middleton Group also identified key hurdles at an early stage for various connection options ensuring the client was able to make informed decisions to address the challenges.
